The Ascension wrasse (Thalassoma ascensionis) is a species of wrasse native to the eastern Atlantic Ocean, where it is known from St. Helena, Ascension Island, and São Tomé. It inhabits areas of seagrass with rocks at depths from 1 to 30 m (3.3 to 98.4 ft).

Central Atlantic: Ascension I. (Ref. 98447 ). Reports from other areas are doubtful: St. Helena (in Ref. 5292 ; see Ref. 119515 ); São Tomé Island: intermediate form with Thalassoma pavo (Ref. 34088 ). Ghana and other localities on the west African coasts (Ref. 86997 ). If reports would be confirmed, they are more likely the result of human transportation (Ref. 98447 ).
