- Africa: lower Congo (Ref. 1877 ), middle Congo River (Ref. 1877 , 1878 , 41590 ), Lake Mai-Ndombe and Wagenia Falls (Ref. 42480 ) in Democratic Republic of the Congo. Report from the Lomami (Ref. 41590 ) unconfirmed in Ref. 106245 , possibly originating from the village of Lomami in Ruki drainage (Ref. 12818 ). Also known from 2 specimens from the Niari River in Republic of Congo; further study may reveal these specimens to belong to a new species (Ref. 81635 ).
