North America: upper Green River drainage in Kentucky and Tennessee, USA; 1 record from Roaring River (Cumberland River drainage) in Tennessee (Ref. 86798 ). Individuals from the Duck River originally allocated to N. elegans are N. fasciatus , the latter restricted to the Duck River system and two minor tributaries of the lower arm of the Tennessee River, Tennessee (Ref. 56218 ).
