Matsubaraea is a monotypic genus of ray-finned fish from the family Hemerocoetidae. The only species in the genus, Matsubaraea fusiforme is found in the western Pacific in the waters around Japan, Thailand and the Philippines on sandy substrates. It feeds on mysids.
