Aphanotorulus horridus is a species of catfish in the family Loricariidae. The generic name "Aphanotorulus" is gotten from greek word, aphanes, meaning hidden, and latin word, torulus, meaning muscle, little string. It is native to South America, where it occurs in the Madeira River basin.
