沙氏下鱵是西北太平洋的海水鱼，常见于河流、湖泊或相关流域；记录中的最大体长为40厘米。

Recorded from the lower part of the Yangtze River in China. Occurrence of this species south to the Ryukyu Islands and Taiwan needs verification.
